Enjoy the Charm of the Historic Buildings

Hepburn Springs is simply a delight to visit, it is only a few minutes drive from Daylesford or from the Midland Highway if you are travelling from Castlemaine or Bendigo. In the mid 1850s the area was discovered by Captain Hepburn and soon after gold was found so many people including immigrants flocked to the area in the hopes of getting rich.

Many of the immigrants came from the Ticino region in Switzerland who’s main language is italian so you will see and experience many aspects of the swiss-italian heritage. Many of these immigrants stayed and built beautiful european styled homes buildings and the stunning gardens that you will see throughout the area.

When you visit Hepburn Springs and Daylesford it is very possible that you will be able to stay and enjoy a meal in several of them. Every year the swiss-italian heritage is celebrated with the ‘Swiss and Italian Festa’ held late October or early November.

When you visit Hepburn Springs you will find it is in a very scenic setting surrounded by forest with creeks flowing through the gullies, you will also see an abundance of wildlife as you walk on the trails.

There are many mineral springs in the area where you can fill your bottles, the minerals in the water can vary from spring to spring so sample a few different ones. The mineral water is used in many of the spa resorts for health treatments so that is another way to experience the ‘magic’ of the mineral water.

The Main Road of Hepburn Springs is lined with beautiful heritage buildings mixed with modern buildings amongst residential houses and a variety of businesses. A few of the heritage ‘stand out’ buildings are the Grange Bellinzona, the Macaroni Factory, the Savoia Hotel and Villa Parma just to name a few which will grab your attention as you walk or drive past.

If you are looking for natural therapy this is the place to be, you can treat yourself to various types of massages, spas and other beauty therapies that will pamper, relax and rejuvanate you in the most beautiful surrounds. The original Hepburn Bathhouse was built in the late 1880s, it is now a ‘state of the art’ luxurious place to enjoy the benefits of the local mineral water.

Nearby is the ‘Pavilion’ building which is a stunning original ‘Edwardian’ style building, it is now used as a cafe, called the ‘Pavilion Cafe’ as shown in the photo below.

This beautiful ‘Pavilion’ building was built about 100 years ago and was used for socialising by locals and visitors many years ago.

There is no shortage of restaurants and cafes to have a meal any time of the day, a huge variety of meals and beverages are available in quirky cafes, historic pubs, themed restaurants to the most indulgent restaurant you could wish for.

Accommodation comes in all shapes and sizes, old and new, country style to superbly modern. There is over 400 accommodation places to choose so you will be sure to find something that suits you, many will have magnificent views of the bush and others could be very close to the shops.

There are several function centres like the Grange Bellinzona and Peppers Mineral Springs Retreat that cater for large groups, weddings, conferences, accommodation, dining and natural therapy.

There are many attractions within a short drive from Hepburn like Lavandula the Swiss Italian Lavender farm, Cricket Willow, Mount Franklin, the Chocolate Mill, the Blowhole, wineries, Mini Golf, the Hepburn Regional Park and of course Daylesford is only a few minutes away with its unique main street, many galleries, boutique stores, Lake Daylesford, Central Springs Reserve and Jubilee Lake and so much more.

There a plenty of options for recreation nearby with many walking trails that take you through parks and forests, over bridges and along creeks and streams, Jacksons Lookout is not far away, the Hepburn Springs Golf Course is in a very scenic bushland setting so you will be sharing the fairway with the kangaroos and other wildlife.
